I am been thinking about those chaotic times in life, when it feels like you’re anxiety is pulsing through your body. When anger creeps up out of nowhere, or suddenly you find yourself feeling sad.
During those moments I close my eyes and tune into my breath, not changing it, just becoming mindful of my breath. Tuning into my inhale through my nose and exhale out my mouth, sometimes I will sigh out my exhale, it always helps move the stuck energies begging to be noticed and released.
During really stressful moments I use the 4, 7, 8 method that I actually discovered on social media. Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale softly out your mouth for 8 seconds. It’s like an instant reset, creates calm throughout my mind, body, and spirit.
Learning to take responsibility for my emotional reactions has changed me, from feeling out of control, to feeling confidently calm when emotions surprise me at times.
When in tough situations remember taking a time out, to regroup, process, to understand what your mind, body is try to communicate to you is always okay. That’s showing yourself love and selfcare, being able to self soothe wasn’t always something that I was good at, I had to work on it.
Never forget talking to God, it’s amazing how surrendering those tough emotions up to God calms the storm as well. I have been having a lot of those conversations lately, and I am always answered. I am so grateful he is walking this path with me. Amen
