Making changes in your life requires consistency, not perfection. I was talking to father God about this today, as I am reminding myself of this.
When I would start let’s say a diet back in the day, if I made a mistake I would allow that one mistake to spiral inside my mind. It would create a pandoras box of endless overthinking and knock me off of my path.
I would shame myself, costing me weeks if not months of forward movement in that current diet goal (just an example). Now understanding it’s consistency, when I make a mistake I give myself a pep talk.
Every morning we get to wake up, it’s a brand new day, I now leave the mistake in the past and continue making one step a day towards whatever change I am working at the time. One new step a day, times that over a years time, that’s a lot of change, big shifts in the making.
I no longer shame myself, that doesn’t help, you might still get to your goal but in a worsen mental state. I love myself into transformation now, so I can arrive at my goals in a healthier mindset. Real change happens on the inside, then you see it on the outside later down the road.
The difference is that it’s a change built on a stronger foundation, a lot can be built with a sturdy foundation. God doesn’t want perfection, he wants consistency in all that we do, specially when it comes to faith and growing your relationship with him.
Remember to talk to God first thing in the morning, and before to go to sleep. Being grateful for the new day, and grateful for a day filled with blessing before you sleep. Even on the tough days, there’s is always something to be grateful to God.
Consistency can be used for any changes you want to make in life, consistency, trusting in yourself to show up for you, is learning to pour love into yourself, one of the many ways to shift how you view self love. Amen!
